Country: Romania
Date: 20 November 2025
Format: Local dissemination session

Overview

During the session, participants were introduced to an overview of the project, including its main objectives, methodology, and the core principles underpinning work with young people, particularly those with autism and mental disabilities. Detailed information was shared about the training activities carried out in Italy, with a focus on practical examples and strategies that can be transferred to everyday youth work practice.

What the session covered

Project focus
  • PASSI objectives and overall structure
  • Methodology and guiding principles for youth work
  • Inclusion and autonomy-oriented approaches for young people with autism and mental disabilities

  • Practical examples inspired by the Italy training activities
  • Strategies applicable in daily youth work environments
  • Tools to support structured, inclusive, and strengths-based activities

Key outcomes

In the final part of the session, the project outcomes were presented. Participants gained a clear understanding of PASSI methodologies and their practical application, such as observing behaviour more systematically, improving communication to reduce conflict, and designing activities based on young people’s strengths rather than deficits.

Systematic observation
More structured ways to notice behaviours and needs in daily practice
Better communication
Practical improvements to reduce conflict and support understanding
Strengths-based design
Activities built on abilities and potential, not on deficits

Impact

The dissemination activity raised awareness among colleagues and partner organisations about the added value of the PASSI project and encouraged reflection on current practices. It also inspired participants to consider integrating these inclusive and autonomy-oriented approaches into their own work with young people. Overall, the session contributed to effective knowledge sharing, professional development, and motivation to adopt new strategies that support positive youth development.
